We understand the difficult decision one has in finding a dental home for themselves and their family. PERSONAL PROFILE:
Larry Porteous D.D.S. is a Bay Area native, he was raised in Berkeley, Ca. and received his B.A. degree in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. As a Cal alumni, he enjoys following the Cal football seasons; “GO BEARS”. Dr Porteous earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine in 1980. Upon returning to the Bay Area he obtain his California dental license and completed a general practice residency at Olive View Medical Center in Van Nuys, Ca. with an emphasis in Oral Surgery. His experience during the residency included visits to outlying clinics, providing general dental care and emergency care to the underprivileged in the greater L.A. basin.
Dr. Porteous met his future wife, Linda, in 1980 while she was completing her dental hygiene degree at Chabot College in Hayward. For two years, they each practiced in separate group offices while exploring the opportunities to open a private practice. Dr. Porteous and Linda Porteous now have 3 successful private practice locations in the Bay Area. Their first office was established in 1982 in Rodeo, later opening the 2nd office in Vallejo in 1985 and have a 3rd office in Danville since 1997. Dr. Porteous and Linda were married in 1985, they are dedicated to the profession of Dentistry and enjoy busy lives.
Dr. Larry and Linda are the proud parents of two college age children. Their son Lance is a recent graduate from the University of the Pacific with a B.S. degree in Biology and is pursuing a career in Dentistry. Their daughter Lea is a student at UC Davis, majoring in Biology and evaluating her career options. Patients of the practices have gotten to know Lance and Lea over the years as they often help out in the offices when they are available.
In their free time Dr. Larry and Linda enjoy spending time together as a family if their children have time for them. Dr. Porteous is a lifelong car enthusiast and enjoys boating and water skiing. He is a fan of classic movies and listens to music of his youth from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Linda’s greatest joy is being the mother of her children. She enjoys gardening, home decorating, cooking, the mountains and the beach.

Dr. Larry Porteous and his wife Linda, dental hygienist, have been providing dental care together for nearly 30 years. They are a family practice welcoming patients of all ages from 3 to 103. Together they provide all aspects of dental care, thus eliminating the need for referrals in most cases. They work closely with orthodontist in their locations for their patients in need of orthodontic attention. They have developed a loyal following over the years because of their commitment to quality dentistry and putting the needs and concerns of their patients first.
